April

Today we held our first Open Afternoon of the 2026 season. On a lovely sunny afternoon club members attended and provided support, guidance and advice to the prospective players.

There was a good attendance and we look forward to recruiting new members.

The afternoon was filled with energy, enthusiasm and excitement. Thank you to everyone who attended today and we look forward to a repeat performance at our next Open Afternoon on Saturday 25th April at 4pm. Everyone is welcome. Club Secretary: Geoff Vaughan.

Postponed due to inclement weather.

On a cold, windy but sunny evening, we played our first league game of the season at Devonport Park.

All 3 rinks started well with some very good heads. The game was played in good spirits and Devonport Park eventually winning 52-36. The experience of playing our first outdoor game bodes well for the future and thanks to all the team for a good effort. Club SecretaryGeoff Vaughan.

On 25th April we held our second Open Afternoon of the season. The weather was kind to us and there was a good turnout from club members. Some prospective members attended and seemed very keen. Let’s hope we can sign some new players. Thank you to all the club members who supported both Open Afternoons. Club Secretary: Geoff Vaughan

A big well done to you all for our game against Yelverton. I have to say the score didn't reflect the game. Even though we lost overall 48-64 there were some really good bowls being played. Also thank you to our supporters for their support it's always appreciated. Men's Captain: Terry Hodgett

Well done to everyone who Played against Ivybridge. We won 1 rink but narrowly lost the other 2 so that means we get 2 points in the Triples format. The score's are getting closer together. Well done to Stans team. Not the nicest of evening, I think the cold after our last few days may have got the better of us. Come on boys we can do it. Men's Captain: Terry Hodgett

Our first evening league game and it turned out to be a good game overall. We covered most off the evening weather, Cold, rain, and playing our last 3 ends in the dark. It's always harder playing with one bowl less. Well done to you all. The final score was 44-62. Well done Hamish's teame for taking the last 3 ends. It was nice to finish off with a pint and pasty. Men's Captain: Terry Hodgett

May

What a night. Cold and Damp. Well done to everyone for getting there in the first place and for what I could see a good evening of bowls. The score didn't resemble the game 68-44. One rink won and the other two lost. Keep it going boys the tide will turn. Big shout out to Sean,Ian and Steve M for trying there very best. Three against four is never easy especially against a team that were in the 1st division last year.

Looking forward to our next game. Men's Captain: Terry Hodgett

How lucky we were not only with the weather but how good does it feel to get a win under our belt. A really great afternoon. The game always changes after stopping for tea. Our 9 point lead soon disappeared. Still a win is a win, 55 to 54. Thank you to everyone for today. Men's Captain: Terry Hodgett

So we played our first ever Pat May game today. Not the best of results, hopefully we can do better on our next game. As everyone found the format for this game is very long. 24 ends is something that our Ladies aren't used to. Hopefully our Ladies can adapt and get stronger. Well done to you all, I'm sure we'll get there in the end. Men's Captain: Terry Hodgett

Postponed due to inclement weather.

Great game today. Well done everyone. We were very lucky with the weather.it was really nice to catch up with you who stayed after the game. Enjoyed the game and I'm happy to say we won 62-60. The tide changed onwards and upwards. Men's Captain: Terry Hodgett

The Deans Cross Trophy was a great success. This is the 5th year we have hosted this event. It was great to invite all participants into the club house. The buffet was another success. Congratulations to the winners. Sallie,Elaine, Iris and Sue. Oreston hold the shield for another year. BZ to everyone involved. Men's Captain: Terry Hodgett

Match postponed due to Green Treatment/Health Risk.

I think everyone who played this afternoon enjoyed their game. It's a shame that we are two Pat Mays in and the score remains in the negative. The final score was 81-52. The score cards are being filled in incorrectly. If you are skip please come and see me and I'll show you how it should be done. Men's Captain: Terry Hodgett

Today's game went very well  with a win of 90-42 to us. It's normally the other way round. We even had a tea break after 16 and we still came out on top. Everyone played really good. Men's Captain: Terry Hodgett

Another Open Day with glorious weather, new members have joined and are looking forward to a successful rest of the season. Club Treasurer: Ed Reynolds

What an interesting game for our first mixed game of the season. Well done to everyone who played in tonight's game. We seem to be building a pattern two rinks win and one looses. Let's try and get all rinks up there. Well it couldn't get any tighter the score was 55-54 to Ivybridge. Men's Captain: Terry Hodgett

Not a great game today. Plympton rinks weren't on our side. Lots of bumps and woods not reacting the way we wanted. It's a shame we lost 86-46. Let's have a better game next time. Well done everyone. Men's Captain: Terry Hodgett

Friendly Game away at Plympton today.

Plympton welcomed us today and provide great hospitality over the afternoon, thank you all.

Our team found the green a lot better today and there were a few closer games than on Saturday, so well done to you all and to the guys that stepped in at short notice.

We lost overall, but the game was declared a draw as the last numbers were the same, so thanks again Plympton, see you all soon. Men's Vice Captain: Dave Burns

Elaine,Baz and Sal great afternoon at Plymstock we finished on a draw 12-12. We managed to hold our own against a very good team. Thank you all. Men's Captain: Terry Hodgett

June

Congratulations to everyone who played tonight. Even though we had to contend with the cold and at times the rain. We came out on top, each rink won. 75-57. Let's keep it up. We can do it. Men's Captain: Terry Hodgett

Today turned out to be a nice day to bowl. Not a great score but what I saw was some good play. Shame the score didn't reflect play. The final score 103-47. Sorry to say we lost again. Come on everyone let's stay positive the tide will change. Men's Captain: Terry Hodgett

Not our best night of bowls. We lost 69-37. I have to say the cold didnt help and I'm sure I wasn't the only one on the green that it got to.

Let's hope the luck changes and comes Orestons way. Men's Captain: Terry Hodgett

Postponed due to inclement weather.

What a beautiful day for a game of bowls and to make things even better we came away with a very nice win, 63-54.1\4. Well done to everyone today. The game was played in a very good atmosphere, a little bit of laughter and friendly banter came from all the rinks. Even the opposition enjoy the afternoon. Well done again, let's keep it up. Men's Captain: Terry Hodgett

Great afternoon of bowls. Torpoint looked after us really well, a very friendly club.

It was a close game. We were 4 up at tea time and then we finished 10 up overall. 65-55. Even though it's a friendly it still feels good to come away the Victor's. Well done to you all. Men's Captain: Terry Hodgett

Postponed due to inclement weather. TBA

Last nights game was really close in the end. The opposition played with one man down on rink 1. This played into our favour. Rink 2 managed to open up a really good win, this cancelled out the loss on rink 3. The quarter the opposition lost on rink one gave us the win by 2.1/2 points. Well done to you all. The final score 58 to 55.1/2. We are now through to the next round. Let's keep it up. Men's Captain: Terry Hodgett

Well done to everyone who played today another great win. Let's keep it going. Now let's try and convert it to our other 2 league's. Onwards and upwards, the final score was 88 - 62. Men's Captain: Terry Hodgett

Can I say a very big thank you to Terry Fairbanks for coming up and being our reserve. Unfortunately rink 3 were unfortunate in their game. Allowing the opposition to claim a hot shot (8 woods). Rain did stop play on the 19th/20th end so the scores stand. It wasn't as bad as I expected. We lost 39-57. Playing one or two more ends would have made no difference to the outcome. Men's Captain: Terry Hodgett

Really well done to everyone who played in our Pat May game at home against Lee Moor. A nice win 72-66. I did think that after the first 8 ends we would be in trouble with one rink loosing 16-0 but they managed to pull it back. Well done you Three. Thanks to Sallie for tea and Donuts. The suger rush worked for us but not for Lee Moor. I think we all had a good afternoon of bowls. Men's Captain: Terry Hodgett

A big well done to everyone who played in our Pat May game this afternoon against Bere Alston. The club looked after us very well. The game was played in a very friendly atmosphere and we won overall. A great score 74-54. Let's keep it going. Men's Captain: Terry Hodgett

Well done to you all for our game against Lee Moor. A little bit on the drizzly side but we put up a fair fight. At least we stopped them getting maximum points. 55-42. Top rink goes to Dave Burns,Ian Hughes and Jack Greenwood. Well done Boy's 7 point lead on your rink. Men's Captain: Terry Hodgett

July

Well tonight's game against Yelverton didn't happen. According to them they were at home and According to us we were at home. I will take some advice from the league to see where we go with this. Men's Captain: Terry Hodgett

Well that wasn't our best performance, it's no one's fault. It's said that a bad workman blames his tools but not on this occasion. The green was absolutely terrible. Everyone struggled. Im sorry to say this is our biggest loss of the season 106-35. Let's try and do better next time out. Thank you all for your efforts. Even though the green was terrible at least we were looked after really well. Men's Captain: Terry Hodgett

Wow what a day what a game. Well done to everyone who played tonight's game against Devonport Park. 2 of our 3 rinks won luckily rink 1 managed to cancel the loss on rink 3. So at last we have a win in the triples league. 60-49. Well done Oreston.  Men's Captain: Terry Hodgett

Well done to you all for bowling in this heat. Everyone did their best including our newest members. I think everyone had a good game. Not the easiest of teams to play but a draw is what we came away with. 53-53. 2 points each. Let's try and get that one more point next time. Men's Captain: Terry Hodgett

Very well done to everyone who played in our cup game. A very tight game played on a very dilapidated green. So a very big pat on everyone's back. The final score was 61-57. Our next outing will be on the 23rd July. Please make yourselves available. I will play the same teams as today.  Men's Captain: Terry Hodgett

Hi everyone yet another bad day in the office. Let's see if we can start to turn things around. 29-85.  Men's Captain: Terry Hodgett

Well what a difference 24 hours make. Well done to everyone who played in our game against Tavistock. Even though we lost what a different atmosphere to our game overall. 51-43. A massive improvement on our last game. Well done again to you all. Men's Captain: Terry hodgett

Yet another loss. Well done to Mr Burns teame the only winning rink this evening. Our other two took a real beating. Even though we lost 69-43. We all had a good game and yet again I must say another green that needs some serious attention. Men's Captain: Terry Hodgett

A very big thank you to everyone who played today in our Pat May game. The two Captain's agreed to play 6 end's instead of 8 as the weather was a  real concern as it got very hot on the green. A really  good result for us winning 68-38. Well done everyone let's keep it up. Men's Captain: Terry Hodgett

Great afternoon was had by all I hope. Fantastic win 73-62. Give yourselves a big pat on the back. Let's keep the momentum going. Men's Captain Terry Hodgett

Not our best performance of late. Yet another loss 31-75. Not sure how we can change things around. We need to really concentrate on our game. So please have your A game ready for our game on Thursday. Come on you guys we can do this. Men's Captain: Terry Hodgett

Well done to you all. Let's see if we can do it all again for next year, and maybe we may even win it. You never know. The final score was 68-48. Onwards and upwards. We can do it. I would like to thank all of our club members for their support last night. It is greatly appreciated, it made the game. It was really nice to hear all the applauding that you gave to all the players. Thank you again for all of your support. Men's Captain: Terry Hodgett

Well done to everyone who played today in our Mixed League  game against Sir Francis Drake. Looking around the green it was clear that you were all enjoying your game. It was a good call to have tea at 9 ends. Give us all a break from a really hot sunny day. The hospitality offered was greatly appreciated. Nice to be invited in for a drink and chat on completion of a very good game on a green that didn't play the same as when you rolled your last wood. Well done again, another win under our belts. 57-52. Men's Captain: Terry Hodgett

Another great afternoon of bowls. Well done to everyone who played in our game this afternoon. Another good win. 76-55. A massive pat on the back to you all. Men's Captain: Terry Hodgett

Great game tonight. Well done to everyone. A big win on one rink draw on the 2nd, unlucky to our 3rd. We ended up with a draw 51-51. We are getting closer.  Thanks to Gorden for stepping in at very short notice. Men's Captain: Terry Hodgett

Oreston Vs Tavistock B result Oreston 83 :::: Tavistock 38

29th July 2026

On a lovely sunny evening our Oreston team of 3 rings played outstandingly, each ring winning with a few points I hand, well done to you all.

It was so nice to see you guys playing with smiles on there faces, this is the 2nd triples game we have won over this season, so well done to all.

The evening was top off with Terry & Sallie wining there section 8 mixed doubles as well, what a great night for as all at Oreston Bowls club. Men's Vice Captain: Dave Burns

Well done to everyone who played today. I think all rinks did a good job. Sadly one of our rinks gave away a hot shot. This is when the opposition count all their woods around the jack. Even though this happened the loss wasn't that great. We lost by 1 shot. Very unlucky today. 56-55. Men's Captain: Terry Hodgett

Not a very good night of bowls. It can change so quickly. One rink won but the others lost Final score 40-62. It sounded like everyone was enjoying the game so it's a real shame we lost.  Men's Captain: Terry Hodgett

August

A lovely afternoon at the club a really good afternoon of bowls. I think we all struggled from time to time with our rinks. They weren't kind to any of us. But when all said and done we did what we had to do. Well done to you all, big pats on the back all round.  The final score was 66 to 64. Could it have got any closer. Possibly but we did it. Thanks to you all. Men's Captain: Terry Hodgett

Good morning everyone.

Well that was a very interesting game we played yesterday. I don't think anyone was able to read Plymptons green, even Plympton themselves. Well done to Steve and his team for getting the best score on the day. Sorry to say we still lost overall. Combination of heat and green sadly beet us. Better luck next time around. Final score was 33-54. Men's Captain: Terry Hodgett

Well what an evening of bowls that was. A very interesting start on rinks not at all suitable to play on. Made my concerns known and after a small disagreement we got on and played. Fantastic wins on rinks 1 and 3. Rink 2 struggled but managed to pull a few points back. Well done to you all. We won overall by 14 points. 66-52. Well done again fellas. We really can turn things around. Men's Captain: Terry Hodgett

Well done to all our players for a well fought game today. Well done to our new players and our players who are back after sickness. We almost did it, loosing by 5 is nothing to be ashamed of. 67-62. Well done again fellas. Men's Captain: Terry Hodgett

What a great night. Well done to everyone who played today. Each rink won. Brilliant effort by everyone. We can do it. 58-32. This is our season to beat Lee Moor the exact ratio as they beat us last year. Maybe next season it could end up as a draw. Men's Captain: Terry Hodgett

21 ends makes it a very long night playing into the dark. Well done to everyone who played tonight. Top rink goes to Sean and his team. It was a great game all round, played with a good spirit on both sides. A good win for us, 59-46. Well done again guys. Men's Captain: Terry Hodgett
